Dear Aimery Keith Lewis #7
Nana Got Married! 💒
It was such a beautiful wedding! Angele Williams (your Nana) and Pierre T. are now married! We drove across Ontario and through a bit of Quebec to Mount Tremblant to a rental house that Nana booked for the occasion. It was a beautiful venue. There was enough space for all the guests to stay at the property, and the wedding was able to be hosted directly on the side deck!
There is my cello on the right side of the picture, and an honorary chair for Gramgrams on the right (pink sash). It all came together well. I walked Nana down the aisle (we went up those stairs in the center of the image) and “gave her away” for the ceremony.
Here is a shot of the aisle about an hour before the wedding. It took a while to get everything all situated and looking pretty, but I think we did a great job. You can see the little lake in the background (we went canoeing for a bit the day after the wedding), and there was also a fire pit and trampoline in the backyard. The wedding was well attended, around 22 people, if I recall correctly. Even Tantie Ruthie (Gramgram’s older sister) travelled up for the wedding from the Bronx, New York (with her daughter, Auntie Nicole, and her granddaughter, Naomi)
Tantie was strutting her stuff and showing off her fashion sense as always! Look at that fancy hat! Fun fact: The right box is back there between our heads. Your cousin (second cousin) Eric Williams was the ring bearer, and that box was the box that Arsenal’s (our first family dog) ashes came in. It was cute that she was able to be remembered during the event.
After the wedding, there were lots of pictures taken, sparkling wine drunk, speeches given (I cried during mine), and good times had.
The lovely couple is so cute! Omg, a turkey was running back and forth across the backyard all weekend (random, I know). The man on the right in the image was the officiant, and the one with the camera was the photographer. Like I said, after the photos, it was time for the reception! It was a wonderful time, Nana and Pierre had their first dance, and I played the cello for that as well (I played a bit during the ceremony for the candle lighting ceremony as well). After dinner, it was time for cake and other desserts! Honestly though, there was sooo much food and the cake was sooo good, that most people didn’t touch the brownies, pastries, cookies, or macaroons. Both cakes were La Rocca, the bottom was red velvet, and the top was strawberry shortcake, if I recall correctly. The strawberry shortcake on top was delicious and sweet, it complemented the spongier and milder red velvet.
They look so happy here, cutting the cake and finishing off a wonderful event. Your Nana is a wonderful woman and deserves all the happiness she can scrounge up in this life; you do as well. I wish you were able to come to the wedding. It would have meant a lot to Nana, and I would have loved having you take part in the ceremony. Hopefully you will be there for my next (and LAST!) one.
I love you so much, Aimery Keith Lewis! Thank you for inspiring me to start writing again. As I age, I find my memory is getting quite poor. Not only does writing to you weekly help me to keep track of what is happening in my life, but it also reminds me to take more pictures and take time to reflect, at least once a week, on what has been happening. I am excited to get to post 52, God’s Willing!
Love Dada
